Cabinets - tick

A couple of weeks ago I posted about our plans to buy second-hand kitchen cabinets for our kitchen renovation.

I'm excited to say that over the weekend we bought some cabinets via eBay. Here are some pics. We just bought the cabinets, not the benchtops, sink or any of the appliances.

They are solid timber cabinets that have been painted white. If I find the white is too hard to keep clean, at least I'll be able to sand the cabinets back or paint them a different colour. The cabinets are modular, so the layout can be reconfigured to suit our kitchen, which is more of a galley style. The kitchen will be taken apart for us, so we just have to pick it up (in a couple of weeks). All for the princely sum of $600. Gotta love eBay.

What a bargain Charlotte.

The white will really lighten up the your kitchen and like you said, you can always strip it back and re-paint if it doesn't work out. :o) xxx

Hey Charlotte

Your cabinets look just beautiful! That is the style I love, and when I had our kitchen redone a couple of years back, I had them done in that style, except I couldn't afford proper timber and the inlay is quite expensive, so mine aren't grooved, but I have exactly the same handles and colour. I love white! They are great, simple, stylish, and practical. I just love the timber tops too. If I had the money and we bought our dream home, that is exactly what I would have. Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Lia, I was pretty happy with it!

Thanks Kerry, it's great to hear your feedback. Hopefully our dog won't get the cabinets too dirty! Still deciding what to do for benchtops, but I do like the timber too.

Beautiful cabinets, Charlotte. :)

If the finish is gloss or satin, they should be easy to keep clean. I find our dark-coloured laminates show marks more than any light surfaces we've ever had. PITA to keep those clean.

If you're keeping your timber floors, I think the timber benchtop goes well. :)

Yes, keeping the timber floors. Wonder if I can get some second-hand timber benchtops....
