Hope you had a great Easter!
Here's a quick recap of what I've been up to...
Getting quotes for our benchtops
We decided on Tasmanian Oak. Click here to see some examples.
Going out to Movida Aqui for our birthday
The highlight was our entree of slowly braised beef cheek in Pedro Ximenez on cauliflower puree - it was melt-in-the-mouth tender and absolutely delicious.
Here's a pic of our main, Paella de Marisco (Bomba rice cooked with seafood and saffron):
Taking the rangehood and splashbacks out
Before
After
All of the old cabinets are out now, apart from the area around the sink, but that is going to wait until the benchtops are nearly ready (in about three weeks). The old sink will come out, the plumbing will be moved, the new sink cabinet will go in, the benchtop will go in, then the new sink will go in and be reconnected.
Ripping the kitchen out has been my 'weight training' lately, but I've been doing some sort of cardio at the gym Monday to Friday.

Thanks Lia! We are looking forward to it being finished too!
Thanks for the post! I've missed them.
Thanks Kathleen, nice to hear that you missed them. Cheers, Charlotte
Hi Charlotte
The kitchen is coming along nicely and those benchtops will look fabulous! We booked our kitchen in too - someone is doing the whole lot for us (plus organising tradies - which is such a pain) have to go with laminex benchtops - can't believe ceasarstone is an extra $2900!! That would pay for a nice upright cooker - by the way, what are you planning on for stove/oven?
Thanks Janelle, what colour Laminex did you get?
Funny you should ask about the oven - we are looking at those at the moment. Going to get a 600mm wide stainless steel upright cooker (gas cooktop with wok burner, electric oven). Just trying to decide on brand at the moment. How about you?
Charlotte we are going with Polytec benches (same as laminex) in a colour called Iron stone Malt and cupboards are Polytec in Malt with a cut out pattern on it. We are going for a 900mm upright stove - gas cooktop and electric oven. Brands are a nightmare to judge though - everyone is telling me different. "Choice" doesn't help much either. Looking at Glem or iLve but not sure.
Hi Janelle, malt sounds like a nice colour. Good luck with your stove selection! I think we may end up with an LG.
