Taking the Pantry Out

I went to the gym a bit later this morning, so my 45-minute treadmill session went uncommented on - thank goodness!

Today I attacked the other side of the kitchen, taking out a base cabinet and wall cabinet, the cupboards over the fridge, and the pantry (to the right of the fridge).

Before

After

It's tiring work!

I love reading yuour blog Charlotte and I think you are pretty handy to be doing your kitchen yourself! We are renovating our kitchen at the moment and are getting someone in that can do the whole lot - empty the room, replaster, knock a wall down, do electrical, plumbing, flooring etc then someone will put the new kitchen in! I am loving your progress shots - your kitchen will look amazing when its done.

Hi Janelle, thanks for your comment! I will do as much of it as I can and get the professionals in to do the stuff I don't feel confident tackling. Sounds like your kitchen renovation will be similar to ours. Would love to hear/see more about it!

Thanks Charlotte
We have an old 1940s house and the front living area and dining room are quite open plan then you have to go through a door to get to the kitchen so we want to knock a wall down and make it all more open. Because its an old house its so hard to get quotes - everyone wants to do new kitchens in new houses so getting a few quotes was quite challenging! Costs are over our budget! Are you going with ceaserstone benches? I think we are compromising with laminex benches that sort of look like stone :)

Hi Janelle, we have the same layout as you, but in a 1970s house. We are deciding about benches at the moment - at this stage I am leaning towards timber or Corian, but will have to see how much the quotes come in at! Keep me posted with how things are going at your end. Cheers, Charlotte
