Doing My Head In

I love muesli and fruit bread but am afraid to buy them because I know that once I start eating them I can't stop. I can (and have) eaten a box of cereal in a day, and can do the same with a loaf of fruit bread.

What if I included these foods in my diet on a regular basis? Would I be less likely to feel that they are 'forbidden foods' and therefore less likely to binge on them? I was prompted to think about this after having about a thousand calories' worth of cereal, milk, protein powder and fruit before going to bed last night.

I'm going to try and include these carbs after my workout, when my body can best utilise them. Hopefully I will be able to conquer the muesli monster.

Hi Charlotte

I think including them into your weekly diet is a great idea, especially the cereal post-workout when it will be quickly absorbed feeding those hungry muscles. Just as a suggestion why don't you make the fruit bread a standard Sunday morning breaky complete with the paper and a good cuppa! Even whilst prepping I still had bacon and eggs most Sunday mornings. Weight watchers bacon, an omega-3 egg, 1/2 grainy muffin, some baked beans together with stir-fried spinach, mushies, onion, tomato & capsicum and a cup of chai tea. And this meal was totally Precision Nutrition compliant.

I think you need to do what works well for you. Email me if you want to discuss this further.

Perhaps we need to form a Control Freak Society. Of course, that would never work, because we'd all want to be in charge.

;o)

I really do think allowing small amounts of the things you love is essential to stay sane. Raisin toast features regularly in my meals, and muesli now and then. And chocolate, of course.

Hi CHarlotte,

I'm totally with you on this one when it comes to too much information about what you should and and shouldnt eat/when to eat it/how to eat it/why eat it and if there are any other analyses then lets look into those as well and make it even more mind boggling and contradictory. AAAAAAAAARGH!!! It has driven me crazy too.

As for the things you like (and I LOVE fruit bread too)I'm trying to give myself permission to have it, guilt free, once a week. I have a serve of cottage cheese first (to get the protein in) and then toast one decent slice of fruit bread and have it with butter (another favourite)and enjoy it all. Then get on with other stuff so you're not tempted to keep having more and more.

Good luck but I know its a tough dilemma.

Cheers

Magda

Sounds like a good plan.

Hey Charlotte,

I'm the same until i went gluten free, then muesli was out of the picture, then i discovered fricken gluten free muesli - arghhhh who was the bastard who invented this! hahahahaha NA i must say i like the crunch factor of cereal - it's awesome, but you know what - you could have worst addictions!!!! I think you can still have your muesli and eat it too, you work hard and having a little every day (opposed to a box) wont hurt you!!!
